Tanzania's Rainforest Wilderness

Gazetted in 1992, Udzungwa Mountains National Park protects 1,990 square kilometres of the Eastern Arc, one of Africa's oldest and most biologically rich mountain chains. Unlike Tanzania's northern parks, Udzungwa has no roads for game drives; every visit here happens on foot, along a network of forest trails that climb from the Kilombero Valley floor into misty highland woodland. The park borders Mikumi National Park, and can be combined with Ruaha for a complete southern-circuit safari.
